The aim of the session is to introduce participants to peer assessment through formative assessment by presenting an intervention carried out in Hispanic Studies at Swansea University. It consisted in piloting an alternative form of assessment: group presentations of research posters. Students presented their posters to their peers who rated them for content and format and provided written comments. The effects on student engagement will be compared across two student cohorts. By the end of the session participants should have a greater understanding of the opportunities of innovative forms of assessment for student engagement learning through self-reflection and quality enhancement
