The TriLab a Novel View of Laboratory Education

This paper was presented at the 2008 Engineering Conference - Innovation Good Practice and Research in Engineering Education.

In this paper we introduce a new model of laboratory education namely the TriLab. The TriLab is a triple approach of conducting laboratories in which students are exposed to the virtual handson and remote laboratory. The initial architecture of the TriLab has been developed and a pilot study has been conducted in the second year module Instrumentation and Control at the Chemical Engineering Department at Loughborough University.
