Understanding Professional Enquiry

This paper revisits ideas about the nature of professional practice as a basis for generating a clearer view of some of the parameters that bear upon its development. Establishing these parameters provides a means of relating professional development to professional enquiry. The paper proposes three different but complementary ways of conceptualising professional enquiry as:

  • an orientation to practice
  • a socio-cultural process
  • as sets of dialogic techniques.
