The use of web-based delivery for first year engineers

This case study commissioned by the Engineering Subject Centre discusses work in the University of Sheffield which focuses on overcoming poor study practices and hence progress of first year students. The department wanted incentives to encourage regular study patterns and mechanisms to enable effective monitoring of progress by staff to identify and support struggling students. The department also wanted a test case on which to evaluate the potential of VLE technology for enhancing teaching delivery.
