The current policy emphasis on work-based learning and workforce development has led to an increasing focus both on the interface between organisations and higher education and on the range of diverse practices all of which are defined as 'work-based learning'. The wide general use of the term work-based learning obscures the range of often disparate activities which can be included under this general heading. This paper describes the use of experienced based learning in academic awards.
