Using formative assessment in the delivery of a level one module for a media arts degree

This case study explains a strategy used to substantially increase the amount of formative assessment for two modules taught at Thames Valley University. The assessment strategy takes into account the research done on the importance of formative assessment as well as the author's own knowledge of students on a Media Arts theoretical degree course at TVU.

This case study discusses the outcome of this pilot project in terms of the students' learning and how this method of assessment encouraged the students to take more responsibility for the development of their writing skills.
