What can extra-curricular activities do for you?

These views were gathered as part of research funded by the Higher Education Academy.  The project showed that ECAs can add value for students when it comes to their future job prospects skills for employment helping with their course and personal and social development.

The definition of ECAs used in this booklet is broad and includes all activities 'beyond the classroom' such as:

  • involvement in students' union clubs and societies
  • paid and voluntary employment
  • family commitments
  • religious engagement
  • Internet activities
  • elected leadership positions in the students' union
