A new framework which aims to enhance assessment in higher education is published today as part of Advance HE’s ‘Student Success’ series.

Enhancing Assessment in Higher Education is the second in a series of revised frameworks contained within ‘Essential Frameworks for Enhancing Student Success’, guidelines developed by the sector, for the sector.

Over the past two years, Advance HE has led the progression and development of nine existing frameworks, drawing upon evidenced based peer reviewed literature, reports, working papers, case studies and evaluations. Feedback from the global sector through a range of webinars, summits and guided conversations has helped to enhance the frameworks further.

The Enhancing Assessment in Higher Education framework looks beyond the metrics to define how higher education professionals can refine and enhance assessment to enhance student success.

Assessment is a key aspect of student success. It has a critical role in measuring attainment, supporting curiosity, recognising diverse talents and shaping future-proofed graduates.

“Research confirms that better assessment isn't just about tweaking rubrics. It's about crafting an ecosystem that nurtures deeper learning and student satisfaction, equipping graduates for the challenges of our time and an uncertain future.

“The Enhancing Assessment in Higher Education framework provides a structure to review and refine current practices. It supports regular dialogue to keep curriculum fresh and relevant, ensuring students learn the skills needed to navigate the complexities of the 21st century.”
