Fifteen institutions awarded grants for their impact on higher education

09 May 2023 | Advance HE Advance HE announces names of institutions who have won one of the charity’s Global Impact Grants for advancing practice in higher education

Fifteen institutions from seven different countries were today awarded grants by Advance HE for initiatives that show innovative or interesting approaches to global challenges in higher education.

Some 120 applicants from Advance HE international member institutions put themselves forward for a Global Impact Grant under a scheme to reward best practice in higher education worldwide.

“The winning institutions come from different parts of the globe and are a true testament to the scale of the work being done by our members worldwide to advance practice in higher education,” said Advance HE’s Head of International Membership, Ian Hall.

“Universities in Australasia, Asia, the Middle East and Europe are all among the winners, with each institution showcasing a stand-out project of innovation in teaching and learning, building inclusion and belonging, or developing engaging leadership practice.”

Global membership

Advance HE currently has over 100 international members who benefit from access to a range of programmes and support – including access to Fellowship, management training packages and accreditation for their equality, diversity and inclusion practices.

Global Impact Grants were launched in 2022 and, under the scheme, Advance HE awards £1,000 to 15 projects that are taking place in member institutions and advance global practice. In return, the winners submit a comprehensive outline of their projects which Advance HE shares with all members later in the year.

“It’s a brilliant way of sharing some of the new approaches institutions are developing in different parts of the world so that higher education globally can learn and get fresh perspectives,” said Ian.
