Fifteen awards are conferred in the latest assessment round for Athena Swan Ireland, with two new institutional awards taking the total number of awards in Ireland to 98 (20 institutions, 78 departments).
Carlow College, St Patrick’s achieved a Bronze award and was commended for a number of important positive changes in the College, including the appointment of a female Vice-President, an improved percentage of women in the higher pay scale bracket and gender balance on the Board of Management.
TU Dublin also achieved Bronze, becoming the first Technological University to achieve an Athena Swan award, and within three years of establishment. The application notes a range of good practice and positive initiatives including gender parity on the Governing Body, Academic Council and at Director level. TU Dublin was also commended for the Intersectionality and Gender Equality training programme led by the institution in the European Technological Universities Consortium.
Multiple discipline areas are recognised in awards achieved in this round, including various STEMM departments, Arts and Humanities, as well as in Business and Law.
