We have developed specialist virtual programmes to support individuals as part of a cohort to achieve either Senior or Principal Fellowship, with courses running at times suitable for the Asia Pacific region.
Our new Senior and Principal Fellowship Support Programmes have been designed with applicants’ needs firmly in mind. For leaders with multiple priorities, professional development often becomes the lowest priority. This support programme is spread out over 12 weeks to give senior staff the drive and motivation to make the time to work on – and finish – their applications.
Writing an application, including understanding actual impact on institutions or groups of colleagues, takes time. Finding expert support from an experienced mentor is not always easy – especially for Principal Fellowship, where there may be few or no applicants in an institution.
Role of the facilitator
Deanne Gannaway is an Associate Professor and facilitator of the Asia-Pacific Principal Fellowship Support Programme.
She says, “Writing reflectively about practice, in the first person, with a focus on personal achievements can feel challenging at first. It can also be uncomfortable to write about ourselves and our achievements. Discussion with peers and an experienced facilitator can help with this.”

Peer network
A special benefit of the programmes is the forging of a peer network that is cross-institutional, bridges vast distances and can last beyond the end of the programme.
