Dr Faith Hill

National Teaching Fellow 2009 Dr Faith Hill is an outstanding leader and innovator in medical education. Since joining Southampton University in 2001, she has become Director of the Division of Medical Education and Director of the Medical Education Development Unit in the School of Medicine. She uses these roles to promote excellence in education and she also serves as an effective change agent - encouraging innovation across the University and beyond.

National Teaching Fellow 2009 Dr Faith Hill is an outstanding leader and innovator in medical education. Since joining Southampton University in 2001, she has become Director of the Division of Medical Education and Director of the Medical Education Development Unit in the School of Medicine. She uses these roles to promote excellence in education and she also serves as an effective change agent - encouraging innovation across the University and beyond. Faith leads a highly successful programme of staff development for over 1,000 clinical and academic teachers throughout the Medical School and the South Central NHS Region. This includes leadership training for key educators within the medical curriculum. She is committed to a strategic approach to staff development that models and champions innovative teaching methods. Her courses offer an imaginative blend of theory and interactivity and are highly praised by participants: "The best course I have attended over the years to help develop my teaching progress and competency." "Has emphasised how experiential learning produces longer term change for me and hence for other students." "Lovely imaginative way of getting ideas across". Faith has built a range of strategic alliances with key stakeholders, enabling her to enhance the student experience in areas such as assessment, professionalism and reflective practice. As one lead clinical-educator recently said: "Faith's inspirational style of teaching is appreciated and highly valued by all learners who are fortunate to have the opportunity of being involved with her." Faith believes in establishing a firm evidence base for education and actively supports the development of pedagogic research. She regularly contributes to the dissemination of good practice and has over 50 publications on health and education. She has run a variety of workshops at major education conferences and collaborates nationally and internationally in many areas of medical education. Faith's main aim and purpose is to improve healthcare through enhancing the learning experience and inspiring the next generation of clinicians. Through a range of strategic education roles and an imaginative style of teaching, she successfully engages and motivates teachers and helps transform the student experience.
