National Teaching Fellow 2001 Dr John Peters is Deputy Head of Academic Development and Practice and Principal Lecturer in Higher Education at the University of Worcester. He is course leader of Worcester's Masters in Higher Education programmes. He is an active member of the Staff and Educational Development Association having served on its executive and as chair of its conference committee. National Teaching Fellow 2001 Dr John Peters is Deputy Head of Academic Development and Practice and Principal Lecturer in Higher Education at the University of Worcester. He is course leader of Worcester's Masters in Higher Education programmes. He is an active member of the Staff and Educational Development Association having served on its executive and as chair of its conference committee. He is a regular reviewer for Research in Post Compulsory Education and has provided keynote addresses for a number of HE learning and teaching conferences including Improving Student Learning. Dr Peters' key research interest is in student Personal Development Planning [PDP]. He is Associate Director for Research with the Centre for Recording Achievement, an associate centre of the Higher Education Academy with a mission to support the effective implementation of PDP for lifelong learning. He is Principle Investigator for the National Action Research Network for researching PDP and ePortfolio practice, a National Teaching Fellowship Project involving 16 UK HEIs in researching their implementation of PDP and ePortfolios. John has been involved in PDP policy making at national and institutional level for more than a decade and has published and provided educational development workshops on all aspects of PDP.     Dr Peters still teaches First World War History and has recently served as an external examiner in History and as a programme reviewer for Humanities. He has published on skills development for History students, active learning in History, Sports student learning styles, staff CPD frameworks and the issues involved in recognising and rewarding teaching excellence.   He has recently facilitated a number of educational evaluation and change management projects using appreciative inquiry and participant action research. He has successfully supervised three research degrees to completion and is currently supervising four PhDs examining aspects of PDP, ePortfolio and the value of emotional intelligence for student learning.
