Dr Lyn Collier-Greaves’ work spans teaching, research and academic development – all central to supporting the learner.  Her focus is identifying approaches that support successful learner engagement in information literacy within subject discipline.

Working on the principle that learners should be active, whether in a physical or virtual learning context, Lyn creates individual and group experiences that challenge cultural, physical and emotional barriers that might dampen or impede curiosity. Her approaches build communities with shared experiences and provides learners with the confidence to tackle new situations and learn from them.

An early adopter of digital learning Lyn has worked extensively with the JISC and HEA undertaking research projects developing and evaluating learner experiences of on-line learning. Lyn now contributes to digital curriculum design and learner support with a particular emphasis on Work Based Distance Learning.

One of Lyn’s students, when asked what she had learnt with Lyn her reply was ‘studying with Lyn, taught me about life really and how to be successful at it.’

Advance HE recognises there are different views and approaches to teaching and learning, as such we encourage sharing of practice, without advocating or prescribing specific approaches. NTF and CATE awards recognise teaching excellence in a particular context. The profiles featured are self-submitted by award winners.
