Dr Mark J.P. Kerrigan is the Director of Learning and Teaching in the Faculty of Medical Science at Anglia Ruskin University. Graduating with a PhD from Edinburgh University, Mark has worked as a researcher, investigating osteoarthritis, and a lecturer in physiology, cellular biology and research methods. His love of teaching, combined with his passion for excellence, drives his work and commitment to a positive staff and student experience. Mark is a published academic and research supervisor and an advocate for educational research. He co-convenes the Society for Research in Higher Education (SRHE) network for Newer Researchers  as well as supervises numerous postgraduate research students. Mark has a passion for learning technologies and its authentic use to enhance learning and teaching. He is entrepreneurial in approach and uses evidence-informed leadership, in response to key performance indicators, to deliver a positive and successful educational environment for staff and students. Mark is a Principal Fellow of the HEA and a University Teaching Fellow. Impact of work Mark's work has had significant impact in the areas of assessment, digital literacy and student-staff partnerships. He has delivered nationally funded educational projects in: Digital Literacy, Assessment and Feedback and Students as Change Agents, working closing with JISC. Locally, Mark has delivered projects in: integrating iPads in undergraduate science, staff and student assessment literacy, Digital Literacy and Digital Badging of the curriculum. Mark is best known for his work on assessment mapping having developed an open-access tool using Google Apps, and was instrumental in establishing the national Change Agents Network. His commitment to working in partnership with students underpins much of his work. Plans for the future Mark is continuing his work in student partnerships to further the student experience around assessment and the use of technology for learning. He is currently exploring approaches to deliver a holistic curriculum with an emphasis on assessment mapping and the integration of digital literacy through the use of digital badging and a common staff-student framework.
