National Teaching Fellow 2015 Dr Stephen Greenwood is a highly accomplished learning and development specialist, with a strong track record of innovation and educational management. His main contributions in higher education have been in curriculum design, quality assurance and in leading and coordinating activities that enhance the learning experience through teaching or supporting others. From a background in biological sciences, his developing interest in education was taken forward through a PGCE and EdD. At the University of Bristol he set up and ran a computer-based learning facility within a new clinical skills centre, conducted research into online learning, established one of the UK's largest medical education teacher preparation programmes and created a professional skills training programme for over 500 NHS staff across the region and skills training for research postgraduates. At Cardiff University he is involved in enhancement projects with direct impact on over I600 students on over 20 different postgraduate programmes. Since 2013 he has led validation processes resulting in the full modularisation of four MScs, the revalidation of six other MSc courses, the creation of two new MSc programmes and various key modifications to existing programmes. Stephen has conducted primary educational research, written and co-authored 34 journal and conference publications and 14 commissioned reports. He reviews articles for academic journals and has promoted research skills in others through workshops and networks. He is a professional constantly in reflective mode, seeking opportunities to further his expertise for the benefit of students and the broader academic community. To inform his project and validation work he gained PRINCE2 accreditation. To take forward work on personality styles and conflict resolution Stephen achieved qualified practitioner status in psychometric tools (MBTI, FIRO and TKI) in order to bring a fuller understanding of individual and team psychology into his teaching and professional practice. An active champion for the UK Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF) on a national scale, Stephen is an HEA Accreditor assessing individual fellowships, education development programmes and CPD frameworks. He is a tireless reviewer, consultant and critical friend across of range of education projects, pedagogical research and programme development.
