Mr Karl Donert

National Teaching Fellow 2005 Karl is a Geographer who also teaches in Education. He is a National Teaching Fellow at Liverpool Hope University. He has been a pioneer for e-learning and the use of ICT in education. He has developed highly innovative courses for students using digital technologies in a wide range of subject areas. Karl has significant experience in bidding for, managing and leading major national and international learning and teaching projects. In 2002 he established a European learning and teaching network for Geography in higher education, which now has more than 200 member institutions from 49 countries. This network (www.herodot.net) supports geographers in improving the quality of learning and teaching. It connects partners through an online community. In 2002 he was elected President of EUROGEO, the European Association of Geographers, representing geographers and their national subject associations in Europe through participatory status at the Council of Europe and with the European Commission in Brussels. Karl has been using his award to establish and review e-networking of professionals and in disseminating good practice in the use and development of networked learning, with a particular focus on Geography in higher education.
