Mr Robert Rotheram

National Teaching Fellow 2002 Institution at the time of award: Nottingham Trent University Bob Rotheram is Reader in Assessment, Learning and Teaching in the office of the Provost at Leeds Metropolitan University. These days his main interests are in the uses of information and communication technology (ICT) in higher education, especially in using ICT to enhance assessment. In 2008-9 he is leading the JISC-funded project 'Sounds Good: quicker, better assessment using audio feedback' (www.soundsgood.org.uk) which was shortlisted for a Times Higher Education Award. Bob has more than 30 years' experience in higher education, mostly at Nottingham Trent University. His background is in teaching social work and social policy, staff and educational development. He obtained his National Teaching Fellowship in 2002, shortly before being appointed E-Learning Development Manager at Nottingham Trent. He used his NTFS award to create the Social Policy Question Resource (SPQR), a computer-based assessment tool to assist both staff and students on a range of social science programmes. He was the first Chair of the Association of National Teaching Fellows. Bob is a highly experienced conference presenter and workshop leader, especially on ICT-related topics. He will be retiring from full-time work at Leeds Met at the end of September 2009. Till then, he is available for consultancy, particularly on educational programme design and uses of ICT.
