Ms Jocelyn Margaret Wyburd

National Teaching Fellow 2002 Institution at the time of award: University of Manchester Jocelyn Wyburd is Executive Director of the University Language Centre at the University of Manchester. Jocelyn specialises in the management of teaching and learning services concerned with languages for the whole University. Jocelyn has been at the University for nine years and has also overseen a merger of two language centres when the University of Manchester merged with UMIST in 2004. Jocelyn was Director of External Relations for the School of Languages, Linguistics and Cultures for three years and focused on outreach work with schools and the promotion and championing of language learning beyond the University. She is using the resources of the language centre to this end and has opened language courses to members of the public as well. She has now become Director of Language Teaching and Learning for the School and is reviewing and advising on the workloads, terms and conditions of employment and progression and promotion opportunities for 'teaching focused' language teaching staff post HERA. Jocelyn has been very active in national committees working on behalf of languages in the sector, as Chair of SCHML from 2003-2008 and now as Hon. Secretary of UCML.
