Professor Kyriaki Anagnostopoulou

Professor Kyriaki Anagnostopoulou is the Assistant Dean for Education, Bath Spa University. With expertise in the field of technology-enhanced learning, she has been at the forefront of educational innovation in UK higher education for over 20 years. Kyriaki actively researches and evaluates new technologies for education and, as a change agent, she transforms student learning and institutional thought processes, in order to support high quality learning experiences. Recent examples of work include leading the development of highly successful Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) for FutureLearn, and exploring organisation-wide approaches to developing digital literacies through the JISC-funded 'Professionalism in the Digital Environment' (PriDE) project, which has been nationally influential and has attracted international interest. Impact of work Kyriaki's deep understanding of pedagogic innovation is demonstrated by the numerous invited presentations, keynotes and workshops she has led at over 50 conferences world-wide. She also has numerous published works and has authored a number of practical best practice guides for HE practitioners. She is co-editor of the journal Innovations in Education and Teaching International and has also facilitated national special interest groups aimed at enhancing the first year student experience. She has successfully bid for and has led projects funded and supported by the Higher Education Academy, the Joint Information Systems Committee, the British Council, MillionPlus and the Leadership Foundation in Higher Education. As a thought leader, Kyriaki actively takes part in a variety of fora and influences developments nationally and internationally. She has worked with many national educational organisations (JISC, ALT, LFHE, HEA), and has been a long-standing executive Steering Group member for the Heads of e-Learning Forum (HeLF) (2011-17), a network of senior staff who lead digital innovation within UK universities. Internationally, she has recently worked closely with the British Council in India and with the Government of India on developing strategic country-wide capabilities and capacity to lead transformational online distance learning. Plans for the future In the future, Kyriaki plans to continue her work in supporting digital learning innovation in higher education policy and practice and expand it to areas such as teacher education, to engage learners of all ages, and digital leadership in education.
