After definitely not blooming as an economics undergraduate, Ros' experience as a student not only influenced her own teaching but her whole career - ultimately motivating her to empower others to engage students more actively and meaningfully in their teaching. She started her career as a teacher of economics and statistics at A-level and HND (she still liked the subject, just not her own university experience), quickly moving into higher education where she has been committed to the development of others' teaching for the last 20 years. This has significantly involved: being Head of eLearning at the University of Bristol (2000-2006); Deputy Director of the Economics Network (2006-2014), one of the original HEA subject centres; and now as Head of Educational Development at the University of Gloucestershire (from 2014). Impact of work Ros has developed and runs the University of Gloucestershire internal HEA Fellowship scheme, leads the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice and leads on various strategic projects across the university. Ros' approach to developing others is a collegiate and collaborative one, involving experienced lecturers in the professional development of others, building a community and culture of continuing development. This builds on Ros' pioneering work in the Economics Network - one of the original HEA subject centres - where Ros successfully brought together economics lecturers from all over the UK in the joint endeavour of improving economics teaching.
