Dr Andrew Pye is a Senior Lecturer in Biological Sciences at the University of Exeter. He is recognised by his students as an innovative and enthusiastic educator.
Job Title:Associate Dean Education / Senior Lecturer in Law
Institution: Liverpool John Moores University
Year: 2018
Ester has worked in higher education for 19 years and at Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) since 2004 when she started as a Senior Lecturer in Criminal Justice and since 2016 as Associate Dean Education for the largest faculty in the institution. She is proud of her academic leadership role and works to ensure pedagogic practice is placed firmly on the agenda.

Stefan Rossbach's early work in the School of Politics and International Relations at the University of Kent focused on the creation of a 'spine' of skills and training modules which provide continuity from first year of study to postdoctoral level covering a wide range of learning and study skills, methods and techniques along the way. These structures included a 'Teaching Institute' where PhD students working as Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs) were trained and given support.

Dr Jo Rushworth is a Senior Lecturer at De Montfort University where she is a passionate advocate of personalised student experience, inspired by her diverse student body. She's known for introducing her module in 20 languages.

Year: 2018
Jane Setter is Professor of Phonetics at the University of Reading and currently Director of Academic Tutoring in the School of Literature and Languages. She has been Head of Department, Director of Teaching and Learning, Director of Undergraduate Programmes and Senior Tutor in the Department of English Language and Applied Linguistics, and was Chair of the University Teaching Fellows Community of Practice in 2018-19.

Year: 2018
Gwen van der Velden started out in Higher Education as a student activist in the Netherlands. Alongside her studies she then took on a role as critical observer of lecturers in the sciences. This combination of roles gave her a passion for educational enhancement and after moving to the UK she worked at the Universities of Kent and Bath on teaching enhancement through student agency. Gwen is now Deputy Pro Vice Chancellor (Student Experience) at the University of Warwick.

Dr Susan Way is Associate Professor of Midwifery in the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences at Bournemouth University. She is also a Senior Fellow of the HEA and a Fellow of the Royal College of Midwives. She started her career as a Midwife and after achieving a teaching qualification taught undergraduate student midwives.

Dr Richard Woolley believes passionately in the role of education in helping individuals to realise their potential, to access opportunities for learning and to foster a sense of self-confidence and self-worth. He has been engaged in addressing issues relating to diversity, inclusion and social justice in education for thirty years, exploring the relationship between values education and contemporary social issues.

Tony Burke is a Principal Lecturer in Construction at the University of Westminster and, since 2017, he has also had institution-wide responsibilities within the University's Centre for Teaching Innovation. Prior to becoming a lecturer, he enjoyed a varied career in the construction industry, working in both the private and public sectors, and becoming professionally qualified as a Chartered Building Surveyor.

Caroline Bowsher is a Professor of Biology at The University of Manchester (UOM) and Deputy Associate Dean for Pedagogical Development in the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health. Her personal experience of teaching has provided an excellent insight into the needs and expectations of different student bodies.

Dr John Bostock is a Senior Lecturer in Teaching and Learning Development (2012-present) and formerly Post-Compulsory Education and Training (PCET) (2007-2012). His commitment to educational development is the beating heart of his career and personal practice, and his thirty-one years experience of teaching includes eleven years in HE.

Dr Greta Bosch joined academia full time in 2002, teaching civil law and common law, as well as researching in human rights. She has always held a keen interest in internationalisation, promoting a diversified and varied teaching experience. She has received a number of merit awards for excellent teaching practice since 2010: Best provider of feedback in Law - Students Guild Awards 2010, Exeter Teaching Fellowship Awards 2011 and 2013, Senior Fellow of HEA 2012, Annual Merit Awards 2012, 2013, 2014, Exeter Above and Beyond Gold and Silver Awards 2015, 2015/16, 2017.
