She received her individual NTF award in 2003, whilst a Senior Lecturer in Biology in the Faculty of Science and Agriculture at Queens University Belfast, teaching her specialisation of mycology (fungi) and leading various initiatives promoting good practice in learning and teaching.

Sidney Tyrrell is an Associate Senior Lecturer teaching Statistics and Quantitative Methods, and Teaching Fellow in Coventry's School of Mathematical and Information Sciences. Her diverse career has featured experience of distance and independent learning, the latter provoked by the inadequacy of the distance learning materials, and extensive work with children, all of which have contributed to her approach to her present work at Coventry.

Keith Ward is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Human and Health Sciences at the University of Huddersfield, teaching nursing. His work has included the creation of a computer-simulated health care environment, the Penfield Virtual Hospital, and the collection of a comprehensive set of case histories to capture the context of nursing as it applies to patient care. He aims to use these to shift the emphasis in the curriculum towards clinical decision making based on the context of nursing.
