Matt Johnston is a photographer, educator and researcher based in the UK. His work in higher education has sought technologies (old and new) to enhance student experience and position learners as a significant contributor to national and international conversations around photography and publishing. This is realised through world leading work with open classes, visual aids and constant engagement with a distributed approach to pedagogy.
Job Title:Reader in Postgraduate Medical Education and Honorary Consultant Dermatologist
Institution: Queen Mary University of London
Year: 2018
Skin disease accounts for almost 30% of consultations for General Practitioners (GPs) and yet most receive very little training in dermatology. With this in mind Dr Vicky Jolliffe designed the Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Dermatology to teach GPs the key elements of dermatology to enable them to provide optimum care for patients with skin disease.

Prior to joining Edge Hill University, Andrew worked for the North West Ambulance Service as a Paramedic and Clinical Practice Trainer. He has extensive experience of mentoring, supporting, supervising and assessing students and newly qualified operational paramedics.

Dr Jenny Marie is a Principal Teaching Fellow at University College London's (UCL) Arena Centre for Research-based Education. She has worked in academic development since 2005 and led UCL's flagship student/staff partnership programme, UCL ChangeMakers, since 2015.

Dr Alison Megeney is an Associate Professor of Mathematics, the Director of Undergraduate Design Engineering and Mathematics Programmes, and Mathematics Outreach and Public Engagement Lead. She is passionate about her discipline, how it is communicated and how people interact and engage with it.

Emmajane has worked in Education for 18 years, enjoying a wide range of senior leadership roles within academia, policy development and the statutory school sector. Across all these roles, inclusion and working to ensure equality of opportunity have always been central to her belief system. She believes providing outstanding educational experiences is fundamental to opportunity and knowledge creation.

Haleh Moravej is a Senior Lecturer in Nutritional Sciences at Manchester Metropolitan University. Prior to teaching, Haleh was a commercial entrepreneur with her own nutrition clinic. She has always had a passion for learning, and in the university environment, she found a great place for intrapreneural, critical and creative thinking.

Barbara Nicolls has demonstrated outstanding performance throughout her higher education career as a practitioner in English for Specific Purposes (ESP) and currently, as a Learning Developer where her role is inducting students to academic ethos through individual and group tutorials helping them to achieve their goals.

Michelle knew she wanted to be a nurse when she was seven and she followed that dream. Now, having been a registered nurse for over 20 years, she is still as passionate about the nursing profession as when she was giving medicine to her teddy all those years ago. Thankfully, her ability to make a real impact to (actual!) patient care is significantly greater and she believes she has instilled that same passion in others, who will go on and be an enormous asset to the profession.

Andrew Parsons is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of York. Throughout his career, he has acted as an ambassador both for his subject and for excellence in chemical education at all levels.

Having grown up a beneficiary of free school meals in conflict-torn Northern Ireland, Joy Porter has always had a keen sense of how vitally transformative education can be. A series of scholarships allowed her to begin a teaching career at the University of Nottingham as a young postdoctoral researcher.
