I was awarded a National Teaching Fellowship in 2002, a University of Birmingham Teaching fellowship in 2007 and the ExxonMobil Excellence in Teaching award in 2007. I balance an interest in the pedagogy of engineering subject delivery, teaching undergraduates and technical research in the subject of microstructure/property relationships in steels. I also take an active role in public engagement of science and engineering, having held various grants in this area. I gave the British Association Isambard Kingdom Brunel Award lecture in 2006.

Prior to her joining Kingston as Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education) in July 2012, Professor Lesley-Jane Eales-Reynolds was the Director of Learning, Teaching and Pedagogic Research at the University of Westminster. She received her BSc in Microbiology from the University of Wales and her PhD in Immunology from the University of Bath. After post-doctoral work at the Max Plank institute and St Mary's Hospital, Imperial, she joined the University of Surrey.

David is a part-time higher education consultant who used his fellowship in order to build support for colleagues wishing to innovate, learn and develop good practice through the effective use of communication and information technology. He has since developed an innovative and interactive web-based course for new teachers of law that will be made available in 2009. This includes various strategies for introducing teaching and learning innovations into lectures.

Margaret is now an Independent Higher Education Consultant, specialising in Educational and Professional Development. She has a variety of consultative roles at present, including acting as the External Evaluator for one of the University of Portsmouth's CETLs: The ExPERT Centre.

Professor Ben Knights is seconded from the University of Teesside to be Director of the HE Academy English Subject Centre. He is interested in and has written about:  the pedagogies of English and the Humanities; the crossover between subject and pedagogic scholarship;  masculinities in fiction and in English Studies; responsive writing as a medium for understanding literature and human experience. Most of his time is currently taken up with Subject Centre and Academy business, but he would be happy to talk to other or prospective NTFs.
