Dr Suzanne Fergus is exceptionally passionate and has an undeniable talent for teaching. In 2016, she received the Royal Society of Chemistrys Higher Education Teaching Award for her sustained innovations and pioneering endeavours in chemistry education. Suzanne obtained her MA in Education focusing on student engagement in chemistry and has obtained recognition as a Senior Fellow of the HEA for her leadership and support to colleagues enhancing the student learning experience.

Year: 2017
Dr Elizabeth Dobson started lecturing in 1998, delivering courses in music for dance and film in Scarborough where she developed a career defining interest in learning through multi-discipline collaboration. She then retrained in education research and social sciences before completing a PhD with the Open University, which examined how collaborative creativity is socially and contextually shaped within music technology.

David Comiskey is a Senior Lecturer in Architectural Technology at Ulster University. He has been involved in the higher education sector for over ten years, firstly as a lecturer and programme leader for an Architectural Technology Foundation Degree at Southern Regional College, before joining Ulster as a lecturer in the same discipline in 2009. He is a multi-award winning academic with a philosophy of transforming learning experiences for his students via the use of real world scenarios and innovative technologies.

Dominic Bygate is a Mathematical Physicist by training and has previously worked in the financial and software fields. He started his teaching career working in Further Education Colleges before moving to the University sector. Over a nearly 30 year career in education he has taught a range of subjects from GCSE mathematics to masters supervision.

Dr Victoria Bourne is a psychologist and a Teaching Focused academic who is passionate about teaching research methods and statistics to students in a way that engages them in being active and independent researchers. She has taught at a number of institutions, developing researchers from first year undergraduates through to postdoctoral fellows.

As a 22-year old DPhil student in Oxford, Professor Tim Birkhead enjoyed his first experience of teaching undergraduates. As a lecturer in Sheffield in 1976 he was encouraged by the positive feedback he received from students. Seeking to enhance student learning, he made short films and was amazed by the response, from both undergraduates and academic colleagues who said they'd never thought of doing that.

Toni started her career initially in adult nursing and then specialised in children's nursing. After achieving a teaching qualification she taught in Further Education Colleges which initiated a powerful shift on her focus on social inclusion. She transitioned to work in Higher Education in 2000 and has been focused on enabling those who may not have previously considered studying for a higher-level qualification in University to participate, believe in themselves and achieve.

Sue Beckingham is a Principal Lecturer and Teaching Learning and Assessment Lead within the Department of Computing at Sheffield Hallam University. She is a Senior Fellow of the HEA, Fellow of the Staff and Educational Development Association, Certified Management and Business Educator, and a Certified Member of the Association of Learning Technology.

Having had a very successful career as a Secondary Physical Education teacher and Physical Education Adviser/Inspector, Lerverne Barber joined the University of Worcester in 2004 as a Lecturer in the Institute of Sport and Exercise Science. Lerverne's passion for inclusive learning and teaching and her extensive experience and subject expertise, ensured that she was quickly promoted to Course Leader and then Principal Lecturer, for Learning, Teaching and the Student Experience.

Naomi Winstone is a cognitive psychologist and applies her disciplinary knowledge to educational practice. Since becoming an academic in 2009, Naomi has risen rapidly through the ranks of leadership in learning and teaching, from her first role as Head of Level 4, through the roles of Director of Undergraduate Studies and Director of Learning and Teaching, to Associate Dean (Learning and Teaching).
