Dr Stephen Greenwood is a highly accomplished learning and development specialist, with a strong track record of innovation and educational management. His main contributions in higher education have been in curriculum design, quality assurance and in leading and coordinating activities that enhance the learning experience through teaching or supporting others.

Through his role at his University's School of Education and  Professional Development Dr Jonathan Glazzard is responsible for leading the primary initial teacher education courses which were rated by Ofsted as 'outstanding' in 2012.

Dr Christine Edmead's career began as a research scientist in Pharmacology but since swapping the lab bench for the lectern in 2003 she hasn't looked back. Holding two concurrent part-time University positions for a number of years, as a Senior Teaching Fellow in the Department of Pharmacy and Pharmacology (2003-present) and an Educational Projects Officer in the Learning and Teaching Enhancement Office (2007-2013), her roles have been wide ranging.

Dr Susan Deacy is in her third decade as a practitioner in Classics, a subject with an elitist reputation that she is passionate about making relevant to the modern world and accessible to all. Her academic interests include subjects that students can find sensitive, or even troubling, including sexual violence, domestic violence and infanticide. She strives to ensure that teaching such subjects can transform rather than block the student learning experience.

Dr Philip Carey's role in the Faculty of Education, Health and Community is to encourage excellence in teaching practice across a diverse range of subject areas in health and social care, education, leisure and sport.' In a career of over 20 years in higher education, Phil has consistently put the student experience at the heart of his practice. 'As a teacher, he is widely recognised for his enthusiasm, humour and intellectual ability; described by a former student as one of those memorable teachers who have a positive impact on your learning and life.

Dr Kevin Burden is an infectious champion for technology-enhanced learning (TEL) and his teaching awards and international recognition are testament to the outstanding work he has undertaken with students and colleagues to transform their learning experiences and practices with the use of technology.

Institution at time of award: Middlesex University. Graeme Brooker is an academic, writer and designer. His areas of interests are in the pedagogy of the design of interior space and he has explored these ideas via a series of publications, aimed at engaging students in the various processes of making interiors. Primarily this has taken the form of examining the theories and processes of remodelling existing buildings, working with students to understand how the design of interior space is reliant on the understanding of and the subsequent repurposing of existing buildings.

Dr Josie Billington specialises in English (Victorian literature) and in Medical Humanities (reading and health). She has taught across the range of genres, periods and programmes in English Literature (Renaissance to Modernism, undergraduate to PhD, extra-mural/community) and has initiated a range of award-winning volunteering programmes for English students, enabling them to take their subject and literary skills into community life.

Institution at the time of award: University of Gloucestershire. Freya Billington is a Course Creator and Programme Leader for Boomsatsuma in Bristol. She previously ran Film Production at University of Gloucestershire for five years.

Professor Gary Beauchamp's teaching is influenced both by his early career as a primary school teacher and his extensive research and regular engagement since with real learning situations, the professionals who work in them and learners of all ages. His research into how information and communications technology (ICT) is used to enhance learning and teaching informs his teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

In 2000 Dr Jonathan Barnes returned to Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU), where he originally trained as a middle school teacher 42 years ago. A long and varied life in education has involved work in secondary, tertiary, primary and lately nursery education. His first teaching post was in a community secondary school in Kenya. Secondary experience was developed in seven years teaching history, geography and art in secondary schools in the UK.

Mark has responsibility for curriculum development, the use of technology to support learning and for the associated development of academic staff at the University of Bedfordshire. He has a long commitment to widening access to higher education and supporting learners to achieve their potential. He started his work in higher education lecturing in Chemistry but since then has had many roles.
