Chris Pegler is a senior lecturer in the Institute of Educational Technology at the Open University. She joined the OU in 2000 having previously led resources development for the Warwick Business School distance learning MBA (900 students in 65 countries). Distance learning and e-learning are her main areas of activity, with research interests in the reuse and repurposing of digital resources such as learning objects.

Joe Bennett is Dean of the School of Music and Performing Arts at Bath Spa University. He established the institution's first Foundation Degree, in Commercial Music, which has become one of the most successful in the sector. It is run as a microcosm of the industry it serves, placing equal emphasis on academic rigour, practical music skills and personal creativity.

Institution at the time of award: University of Gloucestershire. Martin Jenkins is Academic Manager of the Centre for Active Learning (CeAL) at the University of Gloucestershire. CeAL is a Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning. This role includes educational development and project management support for projects undertaken through CeAL. Prior to this post Martin was Team Leader of Learning Technology and Skills Support in the Department of Learning Technology and Skills Support, having previously been both a Subject and Campus Librarian.

Professor Ruth Pickford is Director of Learning and Teaching at Leeds Beckett University. She is an international award-winning project manager, researcher and teacher, and a respected speaker and writer on higher education.

Chris Bond is Head of Subject for Management and Organisational Behaviour and Programme Director for the Masters in Business Administration at Roehampton University London. Prior to taking up this post, shortly after his NTFS Award, he was Assistant Director and Head of Learning and Teaching Development at the Roehampton Educational Development Centre, a unit dedicated to a wide range of issues including educational development, quality & standards development, distributed learning development, student learning support and student dyslexia and disability support.

Val Chapman (PhD, MSc, Cert Ed, Dip RSA [SpLD]) is Director of the Centre for Inclusive Learning Support at the University of Worcester (UW). Her work in the area of Disability/Equal Opportunities in HE in the UK was recognised in 2004 by the award of a National Teaching Fellowship, and in 2005 by the designation of her Centre as a partner in the Learn Higher Centre for Excellence in Learning Teaching (one of 16 Higher Education partners). From September, 2006 to 2007, she also held a UNESCO funded Chair in Special Education at Qatar University alongside her UW responsibilities.

Kenny Lynch is a Principal Lecturer in the Department of Natural & Social Sciences and Deputy Director of the Pedagogic Research & Scholarship Institute (PRSI), University of Gloucestershire. His approach to the student experience is to promote excitement for Geography through fieldwork experiences to Tunisia, Uganda and South Africa, including (such as) visits to the edge of the Sahara desert and to Nelson Mandela's prison on Robben Island.

Chris Powis is Deputy Director (Academic Services) at The University of Northampton based in the Department of Information Services (library, IT and media). He is responsible for academic liaison and the integration of information skills into the subject curriculum and the management of Blackboard. He is on the course team for Northampton's Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education and teaches Information Management within the Northampton Business School. His first experience of influencing the national community of practice was through involvement in the JISC-funded EduLib project, a national project aimed at developing librarians as teachers.

Institution at the time of award: University of Gloucestershire. Peter Childs was Dean of Research and Professor of Modern English Literature at the University of Gloucestershire. He was previously Academic Dean of Arts and Humanities and Deputy Head of Curriculum in the School of Humanities. His academic work focuses on twentieth-century writing, a field in which he has an extensive record of publications and is currently working on a study of contemporary British fiction for Palgrave Macmillan.

Iain Mackie is Professorial Teaching Fellow and an Honorary Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry at the School of Dentistry, University of Manchester. Iain was awarded his National Teaching Fellowship in 2004 when he was Senior Lecturer. In 2005 he gained internal promotion to become the first Professorial Teaching Fellow of the University of Manchester.
